Explore the Cutting Edge of Science, Art & Spirit

Exhibit Overview

A permanent exhibit featuring the history of satellite, lightning, and Doppler radar. This 1,000 sq. ft. exhibit ran on a computer network, utilized live Internet weather data, and opened in 1995.

The Franklin Institute Weather Center is the only source of up-to-date weather information located in the Delaware Valley. Equipped with NEXRAD Doppler Weather Radar, lightning detection equipment, and the McIDAS weather analysis system, our weather forecasts are detailed, interesting and easy to understand.

“Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.” ~ Langston Hughes

Weather Visions & Radar

Visitors learn about the history and science of radar, along with weather essentials
on three multimedia kiosks. They also can see up to the minute NEXRAD weather
